Accommodations

These hotels either have guaranteed rates for our conference or they have special rates for University of Utah events. When you call or write for hotel reservations, please mention that you will be attending the "SEAMUS Conference at the University of Utah" so that you will be given one of the rooms that have been blocked out for use by conference participants, or the university rate. The "release date" is the date past which the rooms in the block will be released for reservations outside those attending SEAMUS 2008.

University Guest House

Room rate: $76 + tax.
Release date: March 19, 2008 (100 room block).

This hotel is located on campus. It is served by the Campus Shuttle Service and by Trax (Salt Lake City light rail). The Campus Shuttle Service is free and stops in front of the School of Music, but it does not run on Saturdays. The ride takes about 10 minutes. The last shuttle bus leaves the School of Music at 11:04 PM (Red Route - Evening).

The Trax train stops across the street from the University Guest House (Fort Douglas Station), and 2 blocks away from the School of Music (Stadium Station). The ride takes about 5 minutes. On Mondays through Thursdays the last train leaves the Stadium Station at 11:16 PM (Eastbound), and on Fridays and Saturdays the last train leaves the Stadium Station at 1:01 AM (Eastbound). A one-way fare on Trax currently costs $1.60.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk across campus from the University Guest House to the School of Music.

Chase Suite Hotel

Room rate: $74 + tax.

This hotel is located one block from the Trax (Salt Lake City light rail) 900 East Station. The train stops 2 blocks from the Music School (Stadium Station), and the ride from the Chase Suite Hotel (900 East Station) takes 3 minutes. On Mondays through Thursdays the last train leaves the Stadium Station at 10:44 PM (Westbound), and on Fridays and Saturdays the last train leaves the Stadium Station at 12:21 AM (Westbound). A one-way fare on Trax currently costs $1.60.

It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the Chase Suites Hotel to the School of Music (but it is uphill).

Marriott University Park

This hotel is located on campus in Research Park, an open area on the foothills of the Wasatch Mountain Range, 2.5 miles from the School of Music. A hotel shuttle, based on availability, runs until about 10:30 PM. The ride takes about 5 minutes, and a gratuity is expected.

A campus shuttle (Green Route), that stops in front of the School of Music also stops every half hour about a block's distance from the hotel. It is free, but this shuttle does not run in the evenings (after 6:00 PM) or on Saturdays. This ride takes about 20 minutes.

Hotel Monaco

This 4-star hotel is located downtown, half a block from the Trax (Salt Lake City light rail) Gallivan Plaza Station. The train stops 2 blocks from the Music School (Stadium Station), and the ride from the Hotel Monaco (Gallivan Plaza Station) takes 10 minutes. On Mondays through Thursdays the last train leaves the Stadium Station at 10:44 PM (Westbound), and on Fridays and Saturdays the last train leaves the Stadium Station at 12:21 AM (Westbound). A one-way fare on Trax currently costs $1.60. When traveling from the School of Music to the Hotel Monaco be sure to take the train heading to the Arena Trax Station.

There are several other hotels in Salt Lake City that are fairly close to Trax and/or bus lines. Prices fluctuate quite a bit depending on availability, and often it is possible to find very good deals.
